Covid-19: Players must stop playing ‘Sunday Special’ - Agyemang Badu

Ghanaian international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has emphasized that players must stop partaking in Sunday special football games to avoid contracting the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Covid-19 after becoming an outbreak in the city of Wuhan in the Hubei province of China has spread to more than 180 countries worldwide and has subsequently been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).

In Ghana, there have been as many as 137 confirmed cases while 4 persons have sadly lost their lives.

Speaking to Accra 100.5 FM from Italy on Saturday, March 28, 2020, Agyemang Badu has stressed on the need for everyone to stay safe. In a message to his fellow players back at home, he has urged them to avoid playing ‘Sunday Special’ games.

“Players must stay away from Sunday special games because the Virus is mainly contracted through contact”, the Hellas Verona midfielder said.

Living in Italy which has been one of the most hit countries with the pandemic, Badu says he is now unable to even watch TV at his house because of the reportage on the escalating situation.

“I am scared to switch on the Television because of how the virus is been reported on television".

The former FIFA U-20 World Cup winner additionally advised, “Let's understand that and stay at home. That is the only option. Just like the president said, if you don’t have anything to do in town just stay home”.
