Cristiano Ronaldo Sets Champions League Record Despite Rare Goal Drought

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo set an all-time record in the Champions League for providing the most assists in the competition following the club's first leg victory over Napoli.


Although his presence was seen in the smallest way, he did, in fact, set a competition record with the club for producing the most assists in the Champions League. His assist tally has now reached 31, overtaking Ryan Giggs record.


His assist on Wednesday night's match saw him deliver a precise pass to Toni Kroos who would give Real Madrid the vital lead.

On the other hand, the Portuguese international has failed to score in 523 minutes in the Champions League after he couldn't score in his side's 3-1 win against Napoli.


The 32-year-old has never endured anextensive goal drought in the Champions Leagueand is now setting a personal record, however, just not a usual good one.

CR7 has only struck the net twice in this season's eminent competition, with the last goal coming around last September on matchday two. It is unusualto hear the Real Madrid player being mentioned about suffering a long goal drought in one of his most successful tournaments. However, the entertainer can still be vital to his club even when he fails to score.


Ronaldo has scored an astonishing 14 goals in just 16 appearancesin the La Liga. He will certainly be looking to break the duck on March 8 in the second leg when Real Madrid travels to Italy's south to face Napoli.
