On BT Sport, Parish was asked his thoughts on player power, and the Eagles chairman sent former Palace player and pundit Ian Wright into hysterics.

"I've yet, in seven years, to have a player come to me and say 'I've not really done it for you, I wonder if i should have a cut in my money'," he said.

"That can be frustrating, but people know their value, it's a free market, a pure market in a lot of ways. It's not going to change, as contract runs down your hold over a player diminishes, it's frustrating, but it is what it is."
