Crystal Palace coach Sam Allardyce has confirmed that new signing Ghanaian Jeffrey Schlupp will return from injury in time to face Stoke City next Saturday.

Palace were hammered 4-0 by Sunderland last Saturday in the absence of Schlupp and Allardyce has confirmed that his star signing would be in action soon.

Lamine Kone reacted quickest to Wayne Hennessey's spill to steer in Sunderland's opener after 10 minutes.

The visitors then scored three goals in six minutes in a stunning end to the first half as Didier Ndong struck a superb effort from 25 yards before Jermain Defoe punished lax Palace defending with two excellent finishes.

“Schlupp won’t be fit for this weekend, but should be for Stoke City. Baky Sako’s come back from AFCON with a hamstring problem.

“Fewer injuries is down to us re-addressing our processes, the cryotherapy unit and hopefully the players stay fit.

“Steve Mandanda’s training with Martyn [Margetson, goalkeeping coach] again, not sure when he’ll play again but will be involved with U23’s as soon as possible.”

Jeffrey Schlupp joined Crystal Palace from Leicester City for a fee in the region of £12.5m on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Crystal Palace travel to face Stoke at 15:00 GMT on 11 February.
