Crystal Palace missed out on the services of Marco Silva due to the fact that club chairman Steve Parish was on holiday, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Crystal Palace had identified Marco Silva as their ideal candidate to replace Sam Allardyce as manager.

But the Eagles went on to miss out on the Portuguese boss' services after he elected to join Watford instead.

Now according to reports from England, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish had indeed contacted Silva regarding the job at Selhurst Park but did not convince the Watford boss with his approach by failing to return from a holiday in Majorca to begin the negotiations.
