Crystal Palace secure much needed win over Ipswich

A brace from James McCarthur has secured Crystal Palace their first win of the season, as the Eagles ran out 2-1 winners over Ipswich in the second-round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Ronald de Boer, who's side had not managed a goal in their first two Premier League matches, made seven changes from the defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.

McCarthur was one of those changes and his standout performance proved to be the difference in an evenly contested match.

The Scotland international broke the deadlock on the 76th minute mark when he cut inside and placed the ball into the top left hand corner, before doing the same but this time in the right hand corner just eight minutes later.

Manchester City loanee Bersant Celina scored in injury time to pull one back for Town but it was all too late.

Palace will take on Swansea this Saturday at Selhurst Park in what you feel is already an important game despite it being so early in the season.
