Crystal Palace Striker Christian Benteke Looking Forward to Liverpool Reunion

Published on: 23 October 2016

Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke says he will be happy to face his former teammates when he turns out for the Eagles against Liverpool this weekend.

Benteke failed to impress during a single season at Liverpool after signing from Aston Villa for £32m, and moved on to Selhurst Park after being informed by Jurgen Klopp that he did not have a future at Anfield.

The Belgian powerhouse does not appear to hold any grudges however, and hints that he is looking forward to hosting his former colleagues when the Reds roll into London to face Alan Pardew's side on Saturday evening.

"I am looking forward to every game, not just against Liverpool," said Benteke, following Palace's3-1defeat at championsLeicester City.

"Of course, I am going to be happy because I will play against my old team-mates, but I am focused on every game."

Benteke has revived his career at Palace since arriving in the summer in a club-record £27m deal, scoring three times in the league so far this season. The striker also showed his bolstered confidence when he bagged a hat-trick for Belgium during the recent international break.

Benteke is hoping to show Liverpool that he is a changed player since leaving Anfield and the striker will face a tough battle up against Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip, the latter of whom certainly matches the Belgian for height.
