Crystal Palace to Hold Minute Silence in Honour of Victims of Croydon Tram Crash

The Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Manchester City will begin with a one minute silence in honour of the victims of the Croydon tram crash.


Seven people were killed and over 50 were taken to hospital with various injuries after the crash early on Wednesday morning, when the tram overturned on a bend near the Sandilands stop in Croydon.

Crystal Palace released a statement on social media, confirming the two sides along with the supporters will pay tribute to the victim's prior to Saturday's match.


"Both clubs, teams and supporters will pay their respects to all those who tragically lost their lives in the tram disaster which took place in Croydon earlier this week," the statement revealed.


"Many members of the Croydon and wider community have been affected by this accident and as a club we stand together with the community at this very difficult time.

"This is the second occasion in recent weeks where fans of Crystal Palace have been lost in tragic accidents so the minute's silence will also be in memory of Harry Davies who passed away last month."


Dane Chinnery, 19, was a Crystal Palace fannamed among the tram crashvictims, and described by friends as a "lovely guy" who was "really good fun", as reported by theLondon Evening Standard.


Philip Seary, 57, affectionately nicknamed "Tank" and father-of-three, was another Palace supporter named among the victims whom players and fans will pay tribute to.
