Crystal Palace to Meet With Sam Allardyce 'Within 24 Hours' to Discuss Managerial Vacancy

Former England manager Sam Allardyce is thought to be on the verge of being appointed Crystal Palace boss in the wake of Alan Pardew's sacking.

Pardew was terminated on Thursday, in a not-so-surprising turn of events, and according to Sky Sports, the disgraced Allardyce is next in line, with a meeting already scheduled between the club and his representatives.

Palace chairman Steve Parish thanked Pardew for his service in a club statement, both as player and manager. But with results hard to come by this season, he was never going to remain.

"I would like to put on record our sincere gratitude for the tremendous service Alan has given us, both in his time here as manager and previously as a player," said Parish.

"Following a fantastic second half of 2014/15, the 2015/16 season culminated in only narrowly missing out on winning the FA Cup as well as securing our Premier League place for a record-breaking fourth time.

"During his tenure Alan's hard work and dedication were without question, he has improved so many areas of the club and we wish him the very best for the future.

"With games now coming thick and fast over the holiday period the club are hoping to put someone in place as quickly as possible but have nothing to say about a replacement at this time."

Allardyce, meanwhile, has been off the grid since being fired from the post of England manager. It would be a very interesting appointment, but can we be sure he's learned his lesson?
