Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Preview: Recent Form, Key Battles, Team News and More

Published on: 17 November 2016

Crystal Palace entertain Manchester City on Saturday with both having form issues coming into the game.

Palace have lost four on the trot and have conceded 10 goals in the last three games alone. City on the other hand have only one win in four and lost their grip at the top of the Premier League after conceding a last minute goal to Middlesbrough.

Both sides have cause for concern and so both are desperate for a win after the international break.

Recent Form

Crystal Palace have endured a torrid 2016 and are probably already looking forward to 2017. As they head into the last few home games, Alan Pardew will be looking for a performance from his side after they conceded a last minute goal at Turf Moor.

That defeat at Burnley saw Palace slip to their fourth straight league defeat and left them without a clean sheet for the whole of this season.

Manchester City are also struggling even though they currently sit second in the table. Three successive home draws have seen them relinquish top spot to Liverpool.

Key Battles

Sergio Aguero v Scott Dann

With eight goals in the Premier League this season, Sergio Aguero is in fine form coming into this game. He will be up against aresilient Scott Dann who will have his handsfull with keeping Aguero in check.

Dann keeping Aguero in check will be key to stopping Palace conceding again as they aim to keep a clean sheet for the first time this season.

Christian Benteke v John Stones

Christian Benteke will be looking to bag a goal as he looks to cause mischief amongst the City defence. John Stones will be looking to match Benteke's every move.

Despite being isolated up front playing as a lone striker, Benteke's aerial presence will be a cause of concern for John Stones who could well be playing with Vincent Kompany.

Team News

Crystal Palace could keep the same team that was beaten at Turf Moor a fortnight ago. Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend will be looking to add width to the Palace midfield.

Vincent Kompany could start despite the fact he pulled out of Belgium training and missed both of the games during the international break.

Leroy Sane could return to the starting XI in place of Jesus Navas.

Predicted Crystal Palace XI: Mandanda, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Kelly, McArthur, Cabaye, Townsend, Puncheon, Zaha, Benteke.

Predicted Manchester City XI:Bravo, Zabaleta, Kompany, Stones, Clichy, Fernandinho, Sane, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Silva, Aguero.

Prediction

Manchester City and Crystal Palace have both suffered of late and Palace have conceded in every game so far this season.

It will be difficult for Palace to keep a clean sheet just as Sergio Aguero looks to behitting red hot form.

With City's wreath of attacking prowess going forward it will feel like a long ninety minutes for the Palace defence.

Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-3 Manchester City
