Crystal Palace Winger Wilfried Zaha Reveals Disappointment at Alan Pardew Sacking

Published on: 24 December 2016

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has revealed his sadness at seeing manager Alan Pardew leave the club.

Pardew left Palace after a poor run of results in 2016, with the club just one point off the relegation zone. Former England and Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has been brought in to help Palace avoid the drop.

Zaha has been in impressive form so far this season, bagging three goals and six assists in 16 Premier League appearances.

Writing on Twitter, he revealed his disappointment at seeing Pardew leave the club, highlighting the former West Ham and Newcastle manager's belief in him when others had turned their backs.

Sorry to see alan Pardew go but wish him the best of luck in the future 

Believed in me when many didn't and helped me massively as a player and a person so I'm very thankful

"Sorry to see Alan Pardew go but wish him the best of luck in the future, " Zaha wrote.

"Believed in me when many didn't and helped me massively as a player and a person so I'm very thankful."

Palace's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea proved to be the last straw for chairman Steve Parish, with Pardew leaving the club on Thursday. Palace have managed just one victory in their last 11 league matches, winning just six games out of 36 league games overall in 2016.

Having helped save the club from relegation during the 2014-15 season, Pardew went on to achieve 15th place in the Premier League last season as well as reaching the FA Cup final, ultimately losing to Manchester United.

Sam Allardyce has been appointed on a two-and-a-half-year dealreportedlyworth £2.5m a year in wages, while he will also bag a seven-figure bonus should he keep Palace up this season.
