Juventus full-back Dani Alves launched a scathing attack on former club Barcelona this week after claiming the directors "have no idea how to treat their players", but it has now been rumoured that the Brazilian was actually seeking to arrange a quick Januaryreturn to Camp Nou prior breaking his leg in November
Alves left Barça for Italy in summer under something of a cloud. Yet despite the player's apparent disdain for the people calling the shots at the Catalan club, Mundo Deportivo has claimed that he had wanted to go back to the club when the winter transfer window opened.
Quite how much truth there is to the story remains to be seen, but it is said that Alves has found adapting to life in Turin difficult.
The climate in northern Italy is much different to what he's been used to in Spain, while on the pitch he hasn't been able to click with his Juve team-mates and the style of football is slower and less attacking than he enjoys.
It is also suggested that Alves, who was well aware of his old team's struggles at right-back - even before Aleix Vidal's injury, misses his children who are still based in Barcelona with his ex-wife.
The claim is that Juventus were happy to let the 33-year-old return to Barça, with Alves' representatives making contact with the club on numerous occasions.
Barça apparently took the call and were grateful for the offer, but informed their former star that he was the one who chose to walk away when there was still a year left on his contract and that his chapter at Camp Nou was closed.
It was only shortly afterwards that Alves suffered a fractured fibula that ruled him out until after the January transfer window had closed.
