Daniel Afriyie Barnieh explains his celebration against Asante Kotoko

Hearts of Oak striker, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has explained the reason behind his celebration against Asante Kotoko.

The Phobians recorded a 1-0 win over the betterest rivals in the matchday 31 games on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Barnieh, who scored the winning goal for Hearts of Oak in the second half and run half the length of the pitch to pick up a shirt from the bench.

The forward lifted the shirt to the crowd as his onrushing teammates tried to get a hold of him.

The customised red shirt shows a birthday message with a picture of Barnieh.

Barnieh who celebrated his birthday on the eve of the Super Clash said that the shirt was a gift he received from his sister.

“My sister got me a customised shirt for my birthday so when I scored, I celebrated by showing it to the crowd to appreciate her," he told Joy Sports.

The goal for Barnieh meant more as he had once been unsuccessful with his trials at Asante Kotoko.

The former u-20 captain has shown his undoubted quality in the last quarter of the season, scoring two goals whilst providing two assists.

Hearts of Oak are on course to end their 12 years trophy drought under Samuel Boadu.

The Phobians will be hosted by Ebusua Dwarfs in the matchday 32 games at the Cape Coast Stadium.
