Daniel Amartey fails Leicester in their match against West Ham.

Leicester City's hopes of competing in the UEFA Champions League next season were dealt a potentially crushing blow on Sunday when they were defeated 3-2 by West Ham.

The Foxes' defense was completely desperate, as the Hammers scored three goals in 47 minutes, two from Jesse Lingard and one from Jarrod Bowen.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored two late goals but Leicester run out of time to complete the comeback.

Daniel Amartey, a centre-back, was a major contributor to the loss.

Amartey was utterly terrible when deployed in a back three in the absence of Caglar Soyuncu, who is now in self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19 while on international service.

The versatile player did not contribute a single tackle or interception according to WhoScored.

Perhaps more disappointingly, Amartey failed to deliver a single block or clearance and looked unconvincing for the majority of the first half, struggling to win a single defensive duel.

Although the 26-year-old's passing overall was not too worrying, completing 92.6 % of his attempted efforts, the highest rate of Leicester's starting XI, there were a few times when he needed to be helped out by his teammates.

Amartey on two ocassions attempted a short backpass that was almost intercepted by Hammers forward Jesse Lingard.

Although Amartey was not at fault for any of West Ham's goals, he put in a truly bad display and was finally replaced at half-time by Luke Thomas.
