Daniel Amartey: Leicester City open contract renewal talks with Ghana defender

English Premier League side Leicester City have opened contract talks with Ghana defender Daniel Amartey, the club’s coach Brendan Rodgers has confirmed.

The 28-year-old who has been impressive this campaign will be out of contract at the Foxes this summer.

The Black Stars defender has been outstanding in the 2022/23 football season, featuring 15 times in all competitions for Leicester City.

Footballghana.com understands Leicester City have opened contract extension talks with three top players with the Ghanaian defender no exception.

Caglar Soyuncu, Jonny Evans and Daniel Amartey are the players being persuaded to extend their contract with the club.

Amartey joined Leicester City in 2016 from FC Copenhagen and has since established himself as a key cog to the side.

He was part of the Black Stars squad that represented Ghana at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where the four-time African champions bow out at group stage.
