Ghana midfielder, Daniel Kofi Kyereh has been forced to leave SC Freiburg's pre-season training camp after suffering problems with his knee.

The 28-year-old returned to training with his teammates ahead of the 2024/25 Bundesliga season after sitting out for a year and a half due to a cruciate ligament injury.

However, Kyereh has left the camp following a reoccurring problem with his knee in recent training sessions.

He is expected to undergo a surgical procedure to assess the extent of the recent injury. The assessment would necessitate further treatment if necessary.

Kyereh missed the whole of the 2023/24 season due to the injury despite optimism of a late return in the campaign.

He joined Freiburg in July 2022 and featured in 12 appearances during his maiden season with the club which also saw him record two goals.

At the national team, Kyereh has not played since featuring at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
