Daniel-Kofi Kyereh had to sit out Freiburg's 5-0 loss in Munich on Sunday due to muscular issues, putting his task against FC St. Pauli in danger.

Despite Kyereh's recovery, it's likely that the on-field fight would not have occurred if the game had gone differently. Because Kyereh is now a great performer for Freiburg, they were down 1-0 at halftime in the second round of the DFB Cup against St. Pauli.

Kyereh and his teammates spent practically the whole second half chasing the 0:1 that Lukas Daschner had scored with a lob after Freiburg's Keven Schlotterbeck had lost the ball. The Kiez's old acquaintances had nothing to say about their greatest player from the previous season, instead Afeez Aremu in particular frequently asserted himself in a tackle at Kyereh.

Ex-St. Pauli striker Michael Gregoritsch headed in to make it 2-1 after world champion Matthias Ginter tied the score with a header in extra time against St. Pauli, who actually had the better opportunities.

In the end, it was simply a bitter reunion for St. Pauli.
