Sunderland are planning to launch a bid forNorwich striker Steven Naismith according toThe Mirror
Current Sunderland boss David Moyes signed Naismith from Rangers during his time in charge at Everton and was close to securing the Scotsman'ssignature before the window closed.
But Moyes remains keen to complete the deal and is targeting a fresh attempt to sign the forward when the January transfer window opens.
Despite only joining the Canaries at the start of the year, Naismith has fallen down the pecking order with Alex Neil and didn't even make the 18 man matchday squad for their recent game with Wigan.
Moyes is looking to bolster his attacking options to take the pressure off of Jermaine Defoe as he looks to keep the Black Cats in the Premier League.
Sunderland are yet to pick up a win after four games this season with just a solitary point to show. They were humbled 3-0 at home by Everton following Romelu Lukaku's 11-minute hat-trick.
Naismith began his career at Kilmarnock where he spent five seasons in which he was awarded the Young Scottish Player of the Year which earned him a move to Ibrox. He won three successiveleague titles with the Old Firm, but following their crisis in 2012 moved south to the Premier League.
He was part of asuccessful Everton side's under both Moyes and Roberto Martinez which went close to achieving Champions League football before just falling short. Time spent playing second fiddle to Lukaku at Goodison Park left his searching for pastures new.
But it now seems his brief time at Carrow Road may be coming to an end as he searches for first-team football withthe Stadium of Light his likeliest destination.
