Captain for the Black Stars of Ghana, Andre Dede Ayew has applauded his teammates for their performance in their final Group F match on Tuesday afternoon which helped them to emerge as 2-0 winners over Guinea Bissau.

The 4-times Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winners after drawing all two of their previous matches in the tournament, stepped up and showed quality to ensure they defeated the Djurtus on the day.

The Black Stars after failing to find the back of the net in the first half, returned from the break to score two good goals to ensure they amassed all three points which resulted in the team emerging as Group F winners ahead of defending Champions Cameroon.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Andre Ayew shared that he is really proud of the players for stepping up to fight and win all three points for the team.

“Am very proud of all the boys. Honestly, am very proud of the boys. Because the pressure that Ghanaians put on the lads it's not everybody that can take this pressure”.

“They have shown a lot of character. I congratulate everyone and we need to stay calm now, rest and prepare for the next game”, the Swansea City attacker said.

Ghana is now expected to play North African side Tunisia in the Round of 16. The match will be played at the Ismailia Stadium on Monday, July 8, 2019.
