Dede Ayew on target as Swansea suffer defeat at Brentford

Ghanaian international Andre Ayew continued his fine goalscoring form for Swansea City this afternoon but it was not enough as they lost 3-1 at the hands of Brentford.

The two English Championship teams locked horns on Boxing Day in a matchday 24 encounter looking to bag the 3 crucial points.

At the end of a pulsating showdown, it was the home side that cruised to a deserved victory after showing potency in front of goal.

Bryan Mbeumo and Ollie Watkins both scored in the first half to give Brentford a good lead going into the break. All efforts by Swansea City to find a way back proved futile as they went into the break.

An improved performance from the away team in the second half saw them score through Andre Ayew but the second goal eluded them until Brentford score their insurance goal to eventually emerge as 3-1 winners.

Ayew will take solace from the fact that he has now netted 11 goals in all competitions for Swansea City after making 25 appearances.
