Defender Michael Ampadu leaves Ghana Premier League club Legon Cities

Legon Cities and defender Michael Ampadu have parted ways ahead of the start of the new season.

The enterprising right-back joined the Ghana Premier League outfit in October 2020 from Liberty Professionals and established himself as a key cog to the team.

After almost three-year spell at the club, the 25-year-old has left the club and is expected to find himself a new club before the season start.

Both parties have agreed to go their separate ways ahead of the 2023/24 season after the expiration of his contract this month.

Ampadu has been a long-term target for Kotoko but effort to secure his services for the Porcupine Warriors proved futile.

Meanwhile, the Royals have officially announced the appointment of Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin as their new head coach ahead of the new season.

The experienced gaffer joins the Royals after leaving Aduana Stars, where he spent one season with the club.

Fabin, who guided Aduana Stars to a second place finish in the Ghana Premier League last season replaces Maxwell Konadu who left the club to join Nsoatreman FC few days ago.

Legon Cities will in the coming days reveal details of Fabin's contract but the former Kotoko coach is expected to commence work from August 1, 2023.
