Ronaldinho is set to become the latest ex-Barcelona star to take on an ambassadorial role with the Catalan giants.

Speaking to the club's official website, Ronaldinho expressed his delight at returning to the club where he played between 2003 and 2008.

He said: I am proud to be invited to help make Barça more well-known around the world.

I am very emotional about coming home and I have no words to express the gratitude I feel towards the Club, the Directors and everyone involved in bringing me back.

A club statement released on Friday on Barcelona's website detailed just how the 36-year-old will carry out his official duties under the Barcelona brand.

"Through FCBEscola, FC Barcelona and Ronaldinho's football academies will be seeking different ways to collaborate both in terms of the brand and possible associations with the same. The player will also appear in the opening and closing ceremonies at some schools and take part in activities in which he will share his experience in educational talks.

"Ronaldinho will also take part in FC Barcelona Foundation events related to UNICEF. The Masia 360 project will be another one of the Club projects where the Brazilian will be present, helping with the training and coaching of the athletes involved."
