Depleted Chelsea U23\'s toppled by Everton

Chelsea's U23 side suffered a rare defeat in the Premier League 2 on Monday, falling 2-1 to Everton.

It was a difficult game for both sides, with quite a few players missing from the action. Chelsea were depleted, with the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu part of the first team squad for the FA Cup fourth-round tie against Newcastle.

It meant that Chelsea were not able to exert their usual dominance on the opposition, as those absences had a serious impact on their quality. Everton were able to take control of the game and open the scoring.

Everton took the lead through Fraser Hornby in the 7th minute, but Chelsea found an equaliser through Daishawn Redan in the 30th minute. Eventually, Everton broke down the Chelsea resistance and got the winning goal in the 70th minute through Bassala Sambou.
