Deputy Sports Minister, Perry Okudzeto has shared that it will be fine for the football season to continue behind closed doors amidst the Coronavirus (Covid-19) crisis.

The 2019/2020 Ghanaian football season has been on suspension for the past 2 months as a precautionary measure against the spread of the deadly Covid-19 disease.

While the number of cases continues to go up, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is reportedly considering the possibility of allowing the remaining matches to be played behind closed doors.

According to Perry Okudzeto, the idea which has been proposed by many stakeholders is not far-fetched and will be fine to adopt if that will guarantee the safety of the actors of the game.

“For a football match or any sporting activity to take place, it’s not only the players, technical team, stadium managers, all kinds of people who will come together to make a football match.

“The option of playing in empty stadia is fine. When we get to that point and we think that it’s the best option for us in terms of making out game safe it will be one of the options we will consider. However, as we speak that decision has not been taken”, the Deputy Sports Minister said in an interview with Joy News.
