Disbanding GFA not solution to woes of Ghana football - Samuel Inkoom

Published on: 18 February 2024

Former Black Stars defender, Samuel Inkoom, has joined the chorus of voices advocating for significant reforms in Ghanaian football, amidst growing concerns following the disappointing performance of the Black Stars at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Inkoom made his stance clear during an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz, where he emphasized that calls for the dissolution of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) may not address the underlying issues plaguing the sport.

“It is not the dissolution of the FA that will help us, but what I would add is, they should also be receptive to the ideas others bring on board because we are all looking for the best interest of the game,” he remarked.

The conversation around reform gained traction following the ‘Save Ghana Football’ march organized by prominent journalists in Accra on February 14.

At the conclusion of the march, a petition was presented to Parliament, urging lawmakers to take action to address the crisis in Ghanaian football.

The petition has since been referred to the Committee on Youth and Sports for further review and deliberation.
