Djurgården feels like my home – Portia Boakye

Ghana women’s player, Portia Boakye has noted that she is happy to extend her stay at Djurgårdens IF after insisting that the club feels like home to her.

The experienced versatile Ghanaian player joined the Swedish women’s club prior to the 2018 football season and has since grown to become one of the top players at the club.

This summer, she has signed a contract extension deal with the club and will play two more seasons.

Speaking after signing the new deal, Portia Boakye says she is excited to continue playing for a club that has become her home.

“Djurgården feels like my home so I am very happy to sign . Already the first day when I came here I received a very nice reception and so it has continued. I feel so much love from everyone on the team,” she noted.

Portia Boakye continued, “Jean [Sports Director] has said that if I want to continue in my career, it's up to me, but I replied that I want to stay. I feel so strongly for this team and do not want to disappoint them. It's not about money, but that I love this club.”
