Dreams FC coach Karim Zito charged for misconduct; set to face one match ban plus hefty fine

Head coach for Dreams FC, Karim Zito has been charged with misconduct by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on grounds of misconduct following utterance he made after his team’s defeat to Hearts of Oak over the weekend.

The Dawu-based club hosted the Phobians at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday in a Match Week 7 fixture of the ongoing 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

At the end of the encounter, the visitors emerged as 1-0 winners courtesy a strike from Kofi Kordzi.

Speaking to the media at a post-match press conference, Dreams FC coach Karim Zito opined that refereeing in the league has been going against his team because officials don’t want to be accused of aiding the team of the GFA president Kurt Okraku.

“Eric Gawu went ahead with the ball and the defender pushed him down. I saw a penalty. We are being punched by certain things.

“They should leave us to play our game. This has been happening in most of our away games”, coach Karim Zito said.

He added, “Because the FA President (Kurt) was a director of the club, the referees fear they will be accused if they give us the right decisions”.

Some 24 hours after the media aired the story, the Ghana FA has reportedly sat on the issue and has decided to charge the experienced gaffer for misconduct. Footballghana.com understands that he has been handed a one-match ban and has also been slapped with a fine of Gh₵5000.
