Dreams FC forward John Antwi opens up on impressive spell in Egypt ahead of Zamalek showdown

Dreams FC forward John Antwi says he had a very good time during his spell in Egypt.

The experienced forward spent a chunk of his career playing in the North African country, featuring for a host of clubs.

Antwi had spells with Ismaily, Al Ahly, Tala'ea El Gaish SC, Pyramids FC and others in Egypt and made a good account of himself.

The Ghanaian forward is the all-time highest foreign scorer in the Egyptian Premier league with 78 goals.

He is also the all-time highest foreign scorer in all competitions with Egyptian clubs with 102 goals.

Antwi returns to Egypt with Dreams FC to face Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals first leg tie on Sunday.

Ahead of the game, Antwi expressed his delight as he return to the North African country.

“I had a very good time in Egypt. Matches between Al Ahly and Zamalek are always difficult. I played against Zamalek during my time with Al Ahly and other teams and I scored against them to. So, going back to Egypt to play Zamalek is something that delights me” he said.

Dreams FC have already arrived in Egypt ahead of the crunch game against Zamalek.

The contingent comprising of players, technical and management team members landed in Cairo on Friday.

Ahead of the crucial first-leg encounter, Dreams FC departed Ghana for Egypt on Thursday morning, in a bid to acclimatize and fine-tune their strategy for what promises to be an intense battle on the continental stage and has successfully arrived.

The Ghanaian FA Cup holders will be hoping to continue their impressive run in the competition by reaching the finals of the competition.

Dreams FC are enjoying a remarkable campaign in their first-ever participation in a continental championship.

The Dawu-based club reached the last four of the competition after edging out Stade Malien in the quarterfinals.
