Dreams FC forward John Antwi rebuffs claims Ghana football has declined

Dreams FC forward John Antwi says his outfit exploits in the CAF Confederation Cup campaign indicates that Ghana football is in good shape and not in tatters.

The veteran attacker insists football in the West Africa country is very much alive following his outfit remarkable achievement in their maiden Africa campaign.

The Ghanaian FA Cup champions defied all odds to reach the semifinals of the Confederation Cup in their maiden appearance after triumphing over Stade Malien.

Dreams FC came from behind to draw with Stade Malien in Kumasi on Sunday following a 2-1 win in Bamako to seal qualification to the last four of the competition.

The 2009 Confederations Cup winners opened the scoring at the Baba Yara Stadium before Sylvester Simba leveled pegging to snatch a draw on home turf.

Speaking to the media, the former Al Ahly and Pyramids star says the recent success of Dreams FC in the Confederations Cup is a clear indication that the tantrums people are throwing at Ghana football is a fallacy.

“I will not say our football has declined. We are competing with the best clubs from Africa and being able to override some teams to reach the semifinal proves we are not behind at all, with a little push, we can be up there” he said.

Dreams FC will face Egyptian giants Zamalek in the semifinals of the Confederations Cup.
