Veteran Dreams FC attacker John Antwi has reflected on the team’s performance in the CAF Confederation Cup after sealing qualification to the semifinals.

The Ghanaian FA Cup champions defied all odds to reach the semifinals of the Confederations Cup in their maiden appearance after triumphing over Stade Malien.

Dreams FC came from behind to draw with Stade Malien in Kumasi on Sunday following a 2-1 win in Bamako to seal qualification to the last four of the competition.

The 2009 Confederations Cup winners opened the scoring at the Baba Yara Stadium before Sylvester Simba leveled pegging to snatch a draw on home turf.

Speaking after the game, Antwi said he not surprised by his sides qualification to the semifinals of the competition.

“In the first place, I will give thanks to God for the semifinals feat. Before we started our Africa journey, we decided not to just participant in the competition but rather make an impact, so it is not surprising that we have reached the semifinals” he said.

Antwi, who joined the Still Believe lads before the start of the 2023/24 season has racked up seven goals in the Confederations Cup.

Dreams become the first Ghanaian side to reach the semis of the CAF Confederation Cup, since Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko did so back in 2005, in the maiden edition of the competition.

The FA Cup holders will lock horns with Egyptian giants Zamalek in the semifinals of the Confederations Cup.

The Still Believe lads will travel to Egypt to face Zamalek in the first leg tie on April 21, 2024 before the return leg in Kumasi on April 28, 2024.
