Dwarfs set to stretch Medeama

Ebusua Dwarfs will welcome Medeama in the G-8 tournament which started on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Cape Coast and Baba Yara Sports Stadia.

Aduana Stars pipped Dreams FC 1-0 while Hearts of Oak also had a lone goal win over Karela United.

The second Group B fixture is slated for Sunday, January 7, 2018 at exactly 3pm. It will be exciting to see how Dwarfs and Medeama battle to secure their first win in the tournament.

The two teams have meet five times in two years with Medeama dominating with three wins and two for Dwarfs. Medeama have the upper hand but Dwarfs would want to turn the tables.

Most Dwarfs fans have not forgotten what happened to them in the 2015/2016 season where Medeama won their two league fixtures. The most painful defeat was the 2-0 they suffered at their backyard. The fans have still been licking their wounds.

In terms of preparation and organisation, Dwarfs have done enough. They stand a good chance of winning the game having engaged in friendly encounters with the ended Ndoum Cup being the last major pre-season game they played before Sunday’s match.

Conversely, Medeama have been silent. They got a last-minute call up when WAFA pulled out. With experienced players like goalkeeper, John Ansah, Justice Blay, Tetteh Zuttah, Ibrahim Yaro, John Arthur, Benjamin Bature and their young talented signing, Leventus Arthur; Medeama surely will give Dwarfs a good run for their money.

Dwarfs’ likely starters include goalkeeper, Frank Andoh, Joseph Esso, Raphael Mensah; their latest signing Wadudu Yakubu; J. E. Amoah Mensah, Joseph Dabitora formerly of Elmina Sharks, Albert Hammond and Stephen Bentil.

It’s going to be a close game. History favours Medeama in this affair but Dwarfs would also want to re-write their script against Medeama and that could give them a deserved win.
