Eastern RFA hold talks with Regional Minister

The Executive Council of the Eastern Regional Football Association has paid a courtesy call on the Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Eric Kwakye Darfour to deliberate on the development of football in the region.

The meeting took place at the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council and various issues relating to the development of sports in general, and the promotion of the Juvenile, Division Three, Division Two, and Women's football in the region was discussed. Mr. Darfour expressed his excitement for such a  meeting since it was the first of its kind since he assumed office.

He also commended Mr. Linford Boadu Asamoah, Chairman of the Eastern Regional Football Association, for his initiatives, and contributions to the game of football in the region.

He further congratulated the ExCO on their appointment and advised them to utilize the mandate given them to rebrand the game, raise the bar higher by making it more competitive and entertaining to attract both spectatorship and sponsorship from the cooperate world.

"Sports nurture a lot of talents and promote health, even this day's sports have become business and people are making a profit out of it", he said.

According to him, "sports can't be developed without facilities, so the Ministry of Youth and Sports has been mandated to construct sports infrastructures in the country.

Mr. Darfour indicated that Government is upgrading most of the sports facilities across the country as it's being done at the Koforidua sports stadium.

He indicated that, immediately upon completion of the Koforidua Sports Stadium, work on the Nkawkaw sports stadium will also commence.

He assured the RFA on his readiness to support the development of football and other sports disciplines in the region.

Mr. Linford Asamoah on behalf of the Executive Council thanked the Regional Minister for answering their call and his preparedness to support the RFA in the upliftment of football in the region and Ghana.
