Eddie Howe Saddened as Bournemouth Do 'Too Little, Too Late' to Avoid Burnley Loss

Eddie Howe bemoaned the fact that his side had let Burnley take control of the scoreline early in the game, as Bournemouth were beaten 3-2 at Turf Moor.

The Cherries had come from two goals down to beat Liverpool the previous Sunday, but could not overturn the deficit on this occasion, as Jeff Hendrick, Stephen Ward and George Boyd's goals were enough to see Burnley through to victory.

"The disappointing thing from our perspective is we've given ourselves a mountain to climb", Howe toldBBC Sport.

"2-0 down away from home, it's always going to be tough. Pleasing thing is we did show the character, we controlled the game after that point, but it was too little, too late."

"We can't keep putting ourselves in a situation where we're chasing the game like we were."

Burnley's home record has been exemplary this season, with Arsenal and Manchester City the only teams to scrape by them at Turf Moor since the season's opening day.

13 - Burnley have never lost at Turf Moor to Bournemouth in any competition (W7 D6 L0). Immaculate.

"We knew their strengths, they're very direct. Every set-play comes in and around your penalty area. We knew that, and that's the disappointing thing - that we didn't deal with it better.

"I thought for the moments we did show quality, we scored two goals. For the rest of the game, we were bitty with that, some wasted deliveries and bad decisions."

The Cherries' next game is against Leicester in midweek, affording Howe little time to reinvigorate his side.
