'Edmund Addo is young but his experience will help us succeed' - Red Star Belgrade Sporting Director

Red Star Belgrade Sporting Director Mitar Mrkela says Ghana midfielder Edmund Addo will help the club with his experience despite his young age.

The 23-year-old signed a multi-year deal with the Serbian giants after leaving fellow Serbian outfit Spartak Subotica.

Mrkela also confirmed they tried to sign Addo last summer before the move broke down.

"We wanted Ado in previous years, but we couldn't bring him; then he went out of our focus. However, after a good half-season at Spartak, we decided to bring him.

"He is a young player, yet he has significant experience, including the Champions League, and he is also a national team player. I believe he will contribute to our team's success," Mrkela added.

Edmund Addo made 16 appearances for Spartak Subotica after joining them in the January transfer window, providing one assist.

He has been named in Chris Hughton's Black Stars squad for the June 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar but was an unused substitute as Ghana drew goalless against the bottom side in the group.
