Eight Ashgold players banned from football for two years

As many as eight Ashanti Gold SC players have been banned from football for a period of two years.

This has been announced By the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday, May 16, 2022, after the Ghanaian top-flight club was found guilty of engaging in match manipulation.

The action relates to a Ghana Premier League game at the end of the 2020/2021 season when Ashantigold beat Inter Allies by 7-0.

Besides demoting Ashanti Gold SC to the National Division Two League, the GFA notes that eight players of the club; Stephen Owusu Banahene, Ampem Dacosta, Frank Akoto, Agyemang Isaac Opoku, Amos Nkrumah, Eric Esso, Moses Kwame, and Solomon Afriyie are banned for 24 months.

Meanwhile, Samed Mohammed, Player number 32 of Ashantigold SC is banned for 30 months in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(i) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations 2019.

In addition, Seth Osei, Player number 33 of Ashantigold SC is also banned for a period of 30 months in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(i) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations 2019.
