Elmina sharks, Aduana Stars draw goalless

Elmina Sharks and Aduana Stars battled to a pulsating goalless draw in their 2017/18 Ghana Premier League, match day two fixture at the Nduom Stadium. The tense game at some stages left the home fans on the edge of their seats but no goals were produced at the end of proceedings.

Aduana Stars started well with more energy and fine ball control. They attacked purposefully but the defensive pair of Ishmael Hammond and Ofoe Ofostu impeded the progress of Aduana Stars.

The Elmina Sharks pair worked hard to neutralise Aduana Stars’ attack. Coaches of the two sides returned from the break strongly with substitutions targeted at changing the course of the game.

For Elmina Sharks, Benjamin Boateng came in for injured Ibrahim Suraj while Tanko Mohammed replaced Felix Addo with Benjamin Arthur making way for Theophlius Adom. For Aduana Stars, Noah Martey went out for Emmanuel Boateng whereas Sam Adams and Emmanuel Akouko came out for Nathaniel Asamoah and Caleb Amankwaa respectively.

Yahaya Mohammed could have given Aduana Stars the lead and perhaps the only goal of the match after 76 minutes of grueling action but his remarkable shot was blocked timeously by Ishmael Hammond. For his sterling performance, Edward Ebo Mends won the man of the match award.
