Emenalo: Christensen\'s Chelsea breakthrough the perfect \'parting gift\'

Published on: 07 November 2017

Former Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo has said that Andreas Christensen's rise is the perfect example of how the loan system of Chelsea is working.

Christensen started for Chelsea this weekend during their 1-0 win over Manchester United and put in a solid performance.

The Blues currently have 34 players who are out on loan and aiming to get more first team experience.

Christensen spent two seasons on loan with the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach before returning to the Chelsea first team during the summer as a result of the impressive form which he was showing.

Emenalo said: "Andreas, unbeknown to him, gave me a wonderful parting gift yesterday because his performance is indicative of what development is all about.

"Development equals humility, hard work and timing and Andreas has done all three."

Christensen appears to be establishing himself within the Chelsea first team and has so far played 12 games in all competitions for the club.
