Emmanuel Adebayor announces his retirement from football

Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor's football career is now officially over. The 39-year-old former footballer announced his retirement from football in a video posted on his Instagram account on Monday. Adebayor had been playing for his country's AC Semassi FC since the summer of 2021.

Adebayor has previously played for a number of notable European teams, including FC Metz, AS Monaco, Arsenal, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Tottenham Hotspur. In 593 professional games spanning more than 20 years, he has scored 207 goals and given 65 assists.

Adebayor who made 66 appearances and scored 29 goals for Togo was regarded as one of Africa's top attackers of his generation. His physical strength, technical skills, and ability to score amazing goals made him a fan favorite. He has also represented his country in a number of international tournaments, including the 2006 World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations.

Adebayor's retirement announcement marked the end of a career filled with thrills and honors. The footballer expressed gratitude to his supporters for their encouragement during his career and stated that it was time for him to move on.
