England ask to wear poppies against Germany

Published on: 30 October 2017

England will request permission from football's world governing body Fifa to wear poppies during the friendly against Germany on Friday, 10 November.

It comes after the law was changed last month, allowing the home nations to wear a poppy if opposing teams and the competition organiser agree to it.

The England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland football associations issued a joint statement saying they "welcomed" the revised law.
