A publication in the Daily Star has claimed that Ghana legend Michael Essien failed to make an impact at Persib Bandung.

The former Chelsea midfield maestro joined the Indonesian club in 2017 before going on to hang his boots.

During his time at Persib Bandung, the club could not win the Indonesian top-flight league.

Using that as a reference, a publication in the Daily Stars says Michael Essien failed to make an impact at the club.

“African Cup hero, Michael Essien, moved to an unknown team in Indonesia before retiring.

“The former Ghana international joined Persib Bandung in 2017, playing with former Chelsea team-mate Carlton Cole.

“His arrival didn't have much of an impact, as the club finished 13th in the Indonesian top flight, having finished fifth the previous season,” part of the publication reads.

While in Indonesia Essien was highly regarded and praised for helping to open doors for more top players to move to the country.

At Persib Bandung, the former Black Stars talisman made 30 appearances where he scored five goals and provided one assist.
