Ghana U17 skipper Eric Ayiah is optimistic of leading the team to win next year's African Junior Championship in Madagascar.

The Black Starlets secured qualification to the competition on Saturday after drawing goalless with Ivory Coast in Abidjan.

The first leg 3-1 win at the Cape Coast Stadium was enough to see Paa Kwasi Fabin and his side reach the competition.

“I am very happy we made it to Madagascar 2017, it has been a tough journey,” Toku told Accra based Atinka FM.

“We want to make history by winning the trophy for the first time in so many years. It’s been a long time Ghana won the trophy so we want to break that jinx and conquer Africa again.”

The Black Starlets have won the Africa U-17 Champion on two occasions, thus 1995 in 1999.
