Dr. Kyei's three-year reign can best be characterized as bitter-sweet with some achievements on the field marred by avoidable lapses in administration.

Some fans, as well as pundits, have been calling out the poor leadership approach of Dr. Kyei as the genesis behind the woes of the club with many calling for his sack.

The problems in the club reached its peak with the club 's legal issues with Tunisian club Esperance which has since forced the club's sole shareholder and life patron, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, to form a three-member committee to investigate the club's affairs.

Speaking to Light FM a local radio station in Kumasi, the former Asante Kotoko striker had this to say about the situation.

“I will never agree with anyone saying Dr. Kwame Kyei is Kotoko’s problem, I haven’t chopped his money before but let’s call a spade a spade."

“The circles should unite themselves for their qualities to be felt,” he added.
