Experienced Ashanti Gold defender, Eric Donkor has stressed that the return of attacker Shafiu Mumuni will give the side inspiration on Saturday when they host Akonangui FC in the second leg of the preliminary stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Miners are billed for a cracking fixture this weekend as they bid to overpower their Equatorial Guinea counterpart in hopes of securing qualification to the next round of the continental competition.

Shafiu Mumuni went for trials in South Africa and missed the first leg of the tie which ended 1-1.

Now back with the side, he is expected to feature when they welcome Akonagui to the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

Speaking in an interview with Cafonline.com, Eric Donkor has shared that the presence of the 24-year-old striker will give the team more confidence when they take on the Equatorial Guinea club.

“Mumuni (Shafiu) is an inspiration to the team. He manages to lift the team up when the going gets tough and his presence will add more bite to our play up front in Saturday’s game”, he said

The match comes off tomorrow at 15:00GMT.
