German-Ghanaian winger Erich Berko is on the verge of extending his stay with Hallesche FC as talks surrounding a new contract intensify.

Hallesche FC parted ways with nine players a week ago and the Halle an der Saale-based club is eager to extend Erich Berko's stay.

Berko has made 15 appearances (mostly from the start) since signing during the winter transfer window. The winger has been involved in three goals and also has an offer from the club.

"I can well imagine staying, especially since I get along very well with the coach," the winger is quoted as saying in the Bild newspaper.

But there is still no update from the winger's management. Meanwhile, Hallesche FC Sporting Director Thomas Sobotzik emphasizes: "We're waiting for his decision, but not forever,"

Erich Berko played for Germany at the 2011 European U-17 Championship in Serbia. The 28-year-old started his youth career with Stuttgarter Kickers (2006) and VfB Stuttgart ( 2006 to 2012).
