Manchester United have failed to finish in the top four once again this season but the Red Devils still stand a chance of earning a Champions League place next season if they manage to beat Ajax Amsterdam in the final of the Europa League on May 24th.

United clearly have a lot riding on the Europa League final and it has been reported by the BBC that the fallen English giants could be dealt with a £50million blow if they go on to lose the encounter against Ajax at Stockholm.

Failure to qualify for the Champions League for a second successive year would trigger a £21m penalty clause in United's 10-year, £750m sponsorship deal with Adidas, while they will also miss out on potential earnings of around £30million due to their absence in Europe's elite club competition next season.
