Europa League play-off: Derrick Luckassen set to miss PSV Eindhoven’s match against Norwegian side Haugesund

Ghanaian international, Derrick Luckassen is set to miss PSV Eindhoven’s first leg encounter with Norwegian side Haugesund in the Europa League qualifying round after he was dropped by manager Van Bommel.

The Eredivisie giants dropped from the UEFA Champions League after an aggregate defeat to Swiss side FC Basel. Now battling for a spot in the Europa League, they have been paired against Haugesund.

Ahead of what will be a difficult trip to Norway for the first leg of the tie, Derrick Luckassen who has been a regular in the clubs first three games of the season has been dropped by head coach Mark Van Bommel.

“Luckassen is fit, but we can only put eighteen players on paper. I chose these players”, says Van Bommel as quoted by Eindhoven’s Dagblad.

“Nick Viergever, Trent Sainsbury, Olivier Boscagli and also Timo Baumgartl are preferred. Luckassen recently gained a place in the two matches against FC Basel and in the lost duel with Ajax”, he added.

Former Barcelona attacker Ibrahim Affelay and Toni Lato will all miss out in the match this evening.
