European clubs have expressed interest to sign Hafiz Konkoni - Kingsley Owusu-Achau reveals

Bechem United president, Kingsley Owusu-Achau has revealed that the club has received offers for striker, Hafiz Konkoni, and could play outside the country next season.

The promising forward ended the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season with 15 goals, three goals short of leading top scorer, Abednego Tetteh.

His performance earned a late call-up to the Black Stars for the matchday five games against Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

And according to Owusu-Achau, Konkoni has attracted interest from a host of clubs particularly in North Africa and other parts of Europe who were interested in the signature of the player.

Mr Owusu-Achau failed to disclose the names of the clubs pursuing the player but said once a deal was done, his destination would be known to the public.

“So far, we have received several offers from clubs in North Africa and in Europe, but we won’t disclose the clubs now until we firm up a decision”, he said.

The president of the Bechem club described the player’s exploits as exceptional and said his absence would create a void in the team, but they would still scout for a replacement.

He said Bechem United had a policy of giving players the opportunity to go outside to develop their talent and was confident that once Konkoni got the chance abroad, he could become a world-class striker.

Meanwhile, Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton was full of praise for the talented youngster on his first day at training stating that “he is a young player, so I think he has a lot of development skills and speaking to him, he is quite a matured player for his age."
