Everton defender Ashley Williams says a top six finish remains their season target.

Everton have broken into that group following their 3-1 win over Burnley at Goodison Park on Saturday, although Arsenal will have the chance to reclaim it should they beat Middlesbrough on Monday night.

“That's what we are trying to do," he told evertonfc.com. “Whether we achieve a top six place or not depends on what other clubs do. All we can do is look after our own performances. Hopefully we are in that group of teams that are in the mix for those spots.

“We have a lot of confidence and we are winning a lot of games. In that top six is where we want to be. As the season has gone on, without it being said, we have realised that we are a good team, we can win games and we can beat a lot of teams. We can push towards being in that top group in the league.

“But we know it is a difficult ask to push into that elite group. We are just trying to finish the season as strong as we can and as high as we can.

“It wasn't the best of games at times against Burnley but it is good to be able to grind out wins in the manner that we did."
