Everton Eyeing Up CSKA Moscow Playmaker Alan Dzagoev With Ross Barkley Not Impressing Ronald Koeman

Everton are reportedly planning a move for CSKA Moscow playmaker Alan Dzagoev as boss Ronald Koeman continues to be frustrated with the performances of Ross Barkley.

The 23-year-old has failed to nail down a starting XI spot under the Toffees' new boss, resigned to the bench and relying on substitute appearances to make his mark on the side that are currently struggling in the Premier League, with just one win in their last nine games.

And according to theDaily Mail, the club are looking to find a more consistent performer in that number 10 role, with the Merseyside club keen on bringing in Dzagoev in the January transfer window to help turn around their domestic fortunes.

The Russia international was on the scoresheet for his club at Wembley Stadium in mid-week despite eventually losing out to Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in the Champions League, with Everton director of football Steve Walsh sitting with the player's representatives in the crowd.

Spurs had reportedly attempted to bring the player to White Hart Lane in 2015, however the asking price of £25m was too steep for the club to continue with the deal. But this time around, the Russian side are looking for a much more achievable £15m for their playmaker.

The 26-year-old has been rumoured to favour a move to England while he is at the peak of his powers and fitness, but would have to sacrifice playing in Europe to help Everton climb back into the top six following a string of losses.
