The Liverpool Echo says he has recently deleted his Instagram account.
Fans noticed the change this weekend as Barkley's account vanished - but he does remain on Twitter, for now.
The midfielder has yet to sign a new contract with Everton - leading to rumours he is to leave the club this summer.
Barkley offered no explanation as to why he has deleted his Instagram account, but there was speculation online as to whether it was because of the negative reaction to his refusal to sign a new deal.
